Step by Step: How We Do It

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE COATING?
The coating is applied at room temperature and uses no heat, requires no curing or binders. When applied, the coating's thickness is less than one micron. Unlike other coatings, MicroBlue cannot bond to itself. That means no build-up is possible. Which is very important when tight tolerances are involved.
IS THERE ANY PART SIZE CHANGE?
None whatsoever. There is absolutely no growth or dimensional change. You simply set your clearances as you normally would since no changes are required.
DO I FINISH THE PARTS BEFORE THEY ARE PROCESSED?
You do all of your set-up any modifications before coating. When the parts are ready for assembly, that's when we come into the picture. We are the last step before assembly. So rings should be gapped, cylinders honed to size, bearing clearances set and so forth.
IS THE COATING VISIBLE? iS THERE A NOTICEABLE COLOR?
Yes there is. The coating has a silver-blue color to it. For those of you that have "stealth" questions on your mind, there are a surprising number of options available. But since those are rather "application specific" you will need to call us so we can discuss your particulars.
WHAT ABOUT ASSEMBLY, DO I DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT?
Not at all. One great thing about our process, is that from your standpoint nothing changes. You do whatever you have done in the past, prep and assemble as before, nothing changes. You may see some traces of a powdery residue in some places, there's no need for concern. The coating starts out as a powder and there may be some slight "cling", particularly in blind spots and hard to reach areas.
DO THE PARTS NEED ANY CLEANING BEFORE ASSEMBLY?
Not at all. In fact, when you receive them, they will actually be as clean as they ever will be. If you want to wash the parts in common solvents, that is fine. They will not harm the coating. MicroBlue is not affected by common solvents, but acids or strong alkaline cleaners can cause problems. The powder is a natural lubricant so if you see a darkening in the oil, do not be concerned. It is in fact a great oil additive.
AS FAR AS LUBRICANTS GO, DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT?
Not at all. Since MicroBlue actually improves the wetting properties of lubricants, it is compatible with all types, both petroleum and synthetic. Two important benefits you'll realize is that you can use less lubricant volume and you will have much more leeway as far as viscosity goes. Just don't get too carried away!
